Record Football Kenya Federation Premier League champions Gor Mahia moved closer to an unprecedented 22nd league title following a 3-1 victory over Murang’a Seal at Nyayo National Stadium.

The Sunday afternoon match highlighted Gor Mahia’s consistency this season as they combined tactical organization with effective finishing to secure another important result.

Charles Akonnor’s side maintained their four-point lead at the top of the table despite continued pressure from their closest rivals.

Musa Shariff delivered an impressive performance on the left flank, consistently creating attacking opportunities for his team. His pace and movement caused problems for the Murang’a Seal defense throughout the match.

Gor Mahia took the lead in the 18th minute through Samuel Kapen, who converted after sustained pressure.

Murang’a Seal responded in the 35th minute when Joe Waithira scored an equalizer, briefly leveling the contest before halftime.

However, Gor Mahia regained control early in the second half when Shariff finished a well-worked move with a low strike into the bottom corner.

Coach Charles Akonnor praised the team’s attacking discipline and the contribution of key players during crucial moments of the match.

Shariff also contributed an assist later in the game, helping Gor Mahia maintain control and secure all three points.

Tactical Stability Secures the Result

Captain Alpha Onyango played an important role in midfield, helping Gor Mahia maintain structure and control during key phases of the game. His leadership ensured smooth transitions between defense and attack.

Ebenezer Assifuah, introduced in the 66th minute, added attacking strength and physical presence in the final third. He scored the third goal after rounding the goalkeeper to put the result beyond doubt.

Despite late pressure from Murang’a Seal, Gor Mahia’s defensive organization remained solid and ensured the lead was protected until the final whistle.

Title Race Situation

The result leaves Gor Mahia at the top of the FKF Premier League table with 68 points, holding a four-point lead over second-placed AFC Leopards.

With two matches remaining in the season, Gor Mahia remain in a strong position to secure the league title, although the outcome is not yet mathematically confirmed.
