Why Pauline Njoroge Resigned from Jubilee Party After 14 Years to Join Linda Mwananchi
Political communicator Pauline Njoroge has brought to an end her 14-year journey with the Jubilee Party, announcing her resignation from both the party and its National Executive Committee (NEC).
The move marks one of the most significant political exits by a close ally of former President Uhuru Kenyatta as Kenya’s political landscape continues to shift ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Njoroge said she was stepping down from her position as Jubilee’s Deputy Organizing Secretary and relinquishing her party membership with immediate effect.

The decision, she explained, follows months of reflection and growing commitment to the Linda Mwananchi movement, which she believes represents a new political direction for the country.
Her resignation comes at a time when opposition politics are undergoing rapid realignment. Political figures are increasingly gravitating towards new alliances and movements focused on governance reforms, constitutionalism and accountability, creating fresh dynamics that could influence the race to State House in 2027.
“For the last fourteen years, I have walked an incredible political journey. Today, however, I believe the time has come to embrace a new chapter. I therefore wish to announce my resignation from the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Jubilee Party, where I have served as Deputy Organizing Secretary, and as a member of the Jubilee Party, effective today,” Pauline Njoroge wrote.
Njoroge traced her political journey back to 2012 when she joined The National Alliance (TNA) as Communications Manager. Following the merger between TNA and the United Republican Party (URP), she remained in the newly formed Jubilee Party, eventually rising to become one of its senior officials and most recognisable political communicators.
A 14-Year Political Journey Ends
Her departure closes a chapter that has spanned two presidential terms, major political transitions and some of Kenya’s most defining electoral moments. Throughout that period, Njoroge built a reputation as a vocal defender of the Jubilee administration and later remained one of the strongest public voices associated with former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“I joined The National Alliance (TNA) in 2012 as a Communications Manager. When TNA later merged with URP to form the Jubilee Party, I continued that journey and have proudly remained a member, and in recent years, a party official, serving as Deputy Organizing Secretary.”
Reflecting on her years in Jubilee, Njoroge described the experience as professionally and personally transformative, saying it shaped both her understanding of politics and her communication skills.
“Looking back, I do so with immense gratitude. For someone deeply passionate about politics and strategic communications, these fourteen years have been nothing short of transformational. They have shaped my thinking, sharpened my craft and given me the privilege of serving during one of the most defining political periods in our country’s history. Given the opportunity, I would gladly walk that journey all over again.”
A significant portion of her statement was dedicated to former President Uhuru Kenyatta, whom she credited with mentoring her throughout her political career. She said the former Head of State entrusted her with responsibilities that helped shape her leadership journey and exposed her to governance experiences beyond Kenya.
“I am especially grateful to the Jubilee Party Leader, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, who has been more than a leader to me. He has been a mentor, a teacher and a political father. He believed in me, entrusted me with responsibility and invested in my growth. Beyond the opportunities he gave me here at home, he also exposed me to leadership and governance experiences across Africa and internationally, broadening both my perspective and my understanding of public service.”
Njoroge maintained that her appreciation for Kenyatta remains unchanged despite her decision to leave the party.
“For all that he has done for me, I remain profoundly grateful. As I embark on this new chapter, he will continue to be a valued source of wisdom and counsel.”
Why Linda Mwananchi Became Her Next Political Home
The former Jubilee official revealed that she has been actively involved in the Linda Mwananchi movement since February this year. The movement emerged as a civic-political platform bringing together politicians, professionals, civil society actors and young leaders advocating for constitutionalism, protection of democratic institutions and accountable leadership. Its message has increasingly resonated within sections of the opposition and is closely associated with the broader WANTAM campaign, which calls for political renewal ahead of the 2027 elections.
Njoroge said her involvement over the last several months convinced her that the movement aligns with her political beliefs and vision for Kenya’s future.
“Every meaningful journey reaches a point where one must embrace a new season. For me, that moment has arrived.”
She explained that remaining in Jubilee was no longer compatible with the commitment she wanted to make to the movement’s ideals.
“Since February this year, I have had the privilege of being part of the Linda Mwananchi movement. Over the months, my conviction has only grown stronger that this movement represents an important platform for advancing the aspirations of our generation: a Kenya founded on good governance, the rule of law, constitutionalism, accountability and servant leadership. This same conviction aligns me with the broader WANTAM call, a call not simply for political transition, but for national renewal anchored in integrity, constitutionalism and people-centred leadership.”
Political observers are likely to view her exit as another sign of the ongoing reshaping of Kenya’s opposition landscape. Several leaders and influential political operatives have recently aligned themselves with emerging movements seeking to redefine the country’s governance agenda ahead of the next general election.
Njoroge insisted that leaving Jubilee was not an easy decision but one she reached after careful consideration.
“It is for this reason that I have made the difficult but deeply considered decision to dedicate myself fully to this cause. In doing so, I bring to a close a remarkable fourteen-year chapter in a party that has been my political home.”
Despite ending her membership, she expressed gratitude to the party leadership and colleagues she worked alongside over the years, saying she departs with valuable memories and lifelong friendships.
“I leave with gratitude in my heart, cherished friendships, invaluable lessons and immense respect for the party and the leaders with whom I have served.”
Looking ahead, Njoroge said she believes Kenya deserves leaders who unite citizens, listen to their concerns and place public service above political interests.
“As one chapter closes, another begins. I step into it with optimism, renewed purpose and an unwavering belief that Kenya deserves leadership that listens, unites and puts citizens first.”
She also outlined what she believes the Linda Mwananchi movement stands for, describing it as a platform committed to defending constitutionalism, human rights and the rule of law while championing servant leadership and accountability.
“Linda Mwananchi is more than a political movement. It is a commitment to stand with ordinary Kenyans, to amplify their voices, to uphold the rule of law, defend constitutionalism and human rights, and build a nation where leadership is defined by service, accountability and respect for the dignity of every citizen.”
Her statement concluded with a pledge to devote herself fully to the movement and its mission.
“It is to this mission that I now dedicate my energy and commitment.”
Njoroge’s departure represents more than the resignation of a senior Jubilee official. It highlights the shifting political currents taking shape before the 2027 General Election, with emerging movements such as Linda Mwananchi seeking to attract experienced political figures and mobilise support around governance reforms. Whether her decision triggers similar exits from Jubilee remains to be seen, but it undoubtedly adds momentum to the broader conversation about Kenya’s next political chapter.
