Solo Adventures Boosts Women’s Football Development In Arusha
Tanzanian women’s football continues to gain momentum and build respect across Africa through the achievements of national teams like the Twiga Stars, who consistently participate in the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations and challenge continental powerhouses. Such progress remains evident in the success of the U-17 girls’ teams reaching FIFA World Cup knockout stages and the U-20 Women’s National Team qualifying for the 2026 tournament in Poland.
These continental and global achievements have further strengthened the development of women’s football domestically, particularly at regional and district levels where new talents continue to emerge every season.
Progress has received a new boost after Solo Adventures, a tourism company, donated seven sets of football kits to all teams that participated in the Arusha Regional Women’s Football League for the 2025/26 season, as part of its commitment to uplifting women’s football in the country.

The move has been widely recognized by sports stakeholders as a strong example of private sector involvement in promoting women’s talent, especially considering that the lack of sports equipment remains one of the major challenges facing many grassroots teams.
The league featured seven teams: IAA Princess, Emayani Queens, USA E. Queens, Carmel Queens, King Y. Queens, Future S.P., and Arydo Queens, which were divided into two groups to enhance competitiveness, discover new talent, and improve the overall standard of women’s football in Arusha.
Each of the participating teams received seven sets of football kits, a gesture that was warmly welcomed by players and officials, as it helped ease one of the key logistical challenges faced by women’s teams at the grassroots level.
How Is The Private Sector Fueling Grassroots Talent?

The tournament attracted significant attention from football fans and stakeholders due to the intense competition witnessed from the early stages to the final.
After a tightly contested campaign, IAA Princess were crowned champions of the 2025/26 season after defeating Emayani Queens 1–0 in the final played at Barafu Stadium in Mto wa Mbu.
Speaking during the handover of the sports equipment, Solo Adventures representative Zainab Hussein said the company decided to invest in women’s football believing that sports are a key bridge to empowering girls to achieve their national and international dreams.
She said:
“We believe that investing in women’s football is investing in the future of the nation. Our goal is to give girls the opportunity to showcase their talent and reach higher international levels. We will continue standing with them side by side.”
She further added that Solo Adventures will continue working with other stakeholders to ensure better sports conditions for women.
IAA Princess manager, Magreth Raphael, praised Solo Adventures for the support, saying it will help reduce the long-standing challenge of sports equipment shortages affecting both their team and others in the league.
Raphael said the support will boost players’ morale and allow teams to allocate their limited resources to training, travel, and player development, while urging other companies to follow the same example.
What Does The Future Hold For Arusha Women’s Football?

On her part, King Y. Queens player Nancy Estomy said the support will greatly motivate them to perform better in upcoming competitions, including next season’s regional league.
Estomy also called on sports stakeholders, private companies, and institutions to continue investing in women’s football, saying increased sponsorship will help uncover more talent and raise the competitiveness of women’s leagues in the country.
Arusha Regional Football Association (ARFA) Chairman Zakayo Mjema said:
“What Solo Adventures has done is a major step forward for the development of women’s football. This is a model that should be emulated by other private sector actors. We need more collaboration to nurture our girls’ talent from the grassroots to the national level.”
Mjema added that the Arusha Women’s League continues to serve as an important platform for identifying talent that can progress to the Tanzania Women’s Premier League and eventually represent the national team.
The investment by Solo Adventures in the Arusha Regional Women’s Football League comes at a time when Tanzania continues to strengthen its position as one of the fastest-growing nations in women’s football in Africa.
